Device uses a StrongARM SA-110 (part number 21281EB), Intel 21285AB, TI PCIbus PCI1225PDV for the PC Card controller, and DP83815CVNG for the ethernet controller.

The AS-2000 (with Lucent/Agere/Proxim's firmware) can function as a 802.11b access point using an ORiNOCO PC Card or ORiNOCO PC Card (Ruby), an 802.11bg access point using a Proxim 8800-FC, and an 802.11a access point using an Agere PC50E-8-FC/A.

There is also an AS-I model. This model is limited to 8MB (2x Intel DA28F320J5) Flash and 16MB (2x Micron MT48LC4M16A2-8E) RAM. It otherwise appears to be identical to the AS-2000.
