Template:R from subpage

From DeviWiki (ex WikiDevi)
Jump to navigation Jump to search

When used with the "Redirect category shell" (Rcat shell) template:

Template Redirect category shell may be used to add one or more rcat templates, along with their parameters and categories, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation page below.

When used by itself:

 • From a subpage: This is a redirect from a subpage. In a page title, a subpage name appears after a solidus (/); for example, "WikiDevi:WikiProject Cricket/Articles", which is a subpage of "WikiDevi:WikiProject Cricket", redirects to Template:CricketRecentChanges.

Usage

Use this rcat template in any namespace.
At some point in the future, Jimmy Wales wants to make more printed versions of WikiDevi encyclopedia articles. Mainspace redirects from subpages are not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. In early versions of WikiDevi, subpages in mainspace were used to hold subtopics of their main articles. At present, subpages are no longer used for that purpose. These redirects are kept to maintain edit history and to avoid breaking links that have been made to the redirect, both internally and externally.
 • Add this rcat to a redirect in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (target page name)

and when the redirect is in article mainspace, printworthiness should also be tagged:
#REDIRECT (target page name)

Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT (target page name)

R from subpage
This is in accord with instructions found at WikiDevi:REDCAT.
